About Me

I’ve been retired since 2004 and love every minute of it.  I retired from Upland School District, CA as an accounting Director, working many, many long hard hours.  Now I play many, many hours. Yes, I play with gourds as this website would presume.

However, I have other interests as well.    My husband Art and I have been married since 1984 and have five children between us from a previous marriage.  Now we delight is spending time with our kids and grandkids and great-grandkids.  We are so fortunate that they all live fairly close by – each within an hour or so.

Besides family and church, we are very involved with antique cars.  Art builds them from pieces and we drive them everywhere.  We stick to the 4 cylinder engines of the Model A era.  We also each have one that we race.  Mine is a 1926 Model T with a 1932 “4-banger”.  Racing mostly consists of what we call “hill climbs”.  We race up hill for 1/10 of a mile.  It keeps the speed down and the short distance keeps it safe.  And at our age we need safe! I have also done the quarter-mile drag, but it’s not my favorite.

But racing isn’t all I do.  I also have an interest in quilling.  No I didn’t mean quilting, I mean quilling.  It is paper filigree and is very relaxing and rewarding.  I have been enjoying this art since the late 70’s and do mostly 3-D pieces.

I will be adding a section on “Other Interests” to my website so all can see what quilling is all about and of course pictures of me in my race car just in case you’re interested.
